Africans encouraged to explore their continent

NAIROBI- Hussein Mohammed works for Silverbird travel, a  travel, and tours company that has a branch office in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar, and Seychelles. The company's aim is to influence more Africans to embrace traveling.
Mohammed who was born and raised in Lamu was motivated to join travel and tours by his hometown that has always attracted tourists. This led him to love nature and to be passionate about traveling to different places. According to him, life is a journey that is unpredictable, when you are going through the journey, you should take time to relax and declutter your mind.
"Kenyans and Africans can get packages from Silverbird at rates that are affordable If foreigners from Europe and India can travel with the same rates, why, not Africans"? He says.

As we continue chatting he says that he is the  Kind of a person who travels when he is stressed out. Seeing new places helps him relax, making him solve his problems easier after a having a clear mind. He also likes seeing new people and different places.
"If you have never traveled it is time to start saving to explore different countries, you will see new things, go and explore,  when you travel you will interact with new people and you will appreciate nature because you will see it in a different way."
When tourists leave their destination,  they are overwhelmed by the beauty of their destination, they also create memories from the experience. They go through safari adventures which consist of going to the beach and exposure to different activities as well. During the trip, they are accompanied by tour guides who are friendly and have knowledge about East Africa helping tourists navigate their way during their trip.

It all begins with an inquiry. The company makes sure that they tailor the client's safari program according to their preference making sure that tourists have a great experience during the whole trip discovering Africa.

Mohammed does tours, packages, and ticketing depending on the client's preference. He also considers the type of aircraft that his client would love to go with. He books local flights and international flights making it easy for the client. He adds, "We also do accommodation, our work is to work as middlemen between a client or a customer, with a hotel or with a national bank. So if a  client wants to go to somewhere like Maasai Mara we are the ones who are going to come up with that package, accommodation rates, meal rates,  which are included within in one package".

According to him, currently, there is a high demand to travel to Dubai. The packages that his company is offering includes visa in a three-star hotel in Dubai. If you are planning to go to Dubai or Thailand he will aid you in the process.
He has also used the packages to travel to Boabab Beach Resort. He reminisces about his trip to  Baobab BeachResort. He said the experience was amazing, in Ukunda, South Coast. He has also been to Maasai Mara, Amboseli and to the Abordeas national park, Mount Kenya, Kisumu and Bungoma county.
The company also organize weddings in the African bush , family reunions, team building activities and bird watching.
He adds that travel makes you modest, you see a tiny place you occupy in the world.

Most Africans do not travel due to the expenses that they will incur while traveling. Also, traveling is not a priority. Ensuring there is food on the table and taking care of their family members needs is valued than leisure. Another factor that stops most Africans from exploring their continent is the visa that is required to travel to another African country. Previously the African Union had proposed a visa-free movement for Africans when visiting other African countries, and also a common passport. If this happens it will make it easier for Africans to discover each other's cultures.
