KENYA - The rains did not stop health lovers from attending the organic market  opening on friday at Mwanzi road , Westlands where business owners  showcased their natural products (15-17 March )  to the public as they convinced them to  buy organic products for health purposes.

The organic food market exhibition has created a platform for local companies to market their vegetables , natural herbs and spices , organic honey and peanut butter as well as other products. Companies such as Moringa for life , valley green fruit preserve, ambitious condiment , Moravo naturals , Rose bee honey took advantage of the opportunity .

Lately there has been a lot of lifestyle diseases from consuming from fast food joints and buying processed  products from local supermarkets that have found a market in Kenya .Consuming the processed foods has led to heart disease and complicated diseases such as cancer as well.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) claims that we are consuming a lot of processed foods and drinks which has led to diseases such as diabetes and cancer. National Cancer Control Strategy  estimates that about 28,000 Kenyans are diagnosed with cancer each year .  22,000 Kenyans have lost their lives to cancer according to business daily Africa. This is due to high consumption of processed meat such as sausages , beacon , basically the type of food that we find hard to resist.
Manufacturers have found a market from natural products and an interest of people in wanting to live longer . Being healthy means to eat food that is less processed and  adding more vegetables to your diet.More people are now opting to go organic because of it's health benefits.Organic products not only leaves one feeling energized but it also cleanses your body leaving you clean inside and out and with a flawless skin.

I spoke to one of the vendor owners who said that one of the reasons as to why some organic products do not work on you is because you are not consistent , she said . "if you want the products to work on you, you have to use it everyday in order to get the right results".

Sometimes people are worried that the prices of organic products are not affordable , but that was not the case , one can actually purchase it without feeling like their pockets have been stretched.

The business owners are also eager to educate customers about organic products. If you want to learn more about the organic food market check out https://www.facebook.com/westgateshoppingmall/ or you can  physically go there to learn more about organic food  and it's benefits.
