When you arrive at the shopping mall you are welcomed by exhibitors who have strategically placed their tables as they patiently wait for someone to approach them.I could tell that Kenya has a market for wine by the number of people who did a wine tasting at the tables.I made eye contact with a lady who had bottles of wine on her table. As I approached her, she was smiling.I had a feeling that I will learn something new. The lady told me that she has attended wine classes in South Africa and has 5 years of experience in sales and marketing. She showed me the different ways of indulging in wine from how to differentiate the smell to the tasting part of it.
She said," first, pour the wine into a glass to catch a glimpse of its color which determines the age of the wine". According to her as the red wine matures it changes from light red to dark red, on the other hand, white wine is yellow when it is younger and turns golden when older.
The next step requires you to swirl the wine to allow oxygen to make the flavor better. As you continue to swirl it you, Use your sense of smell to know which type of grapes were used.Grapes come in different flavors.Take a sip and make sure it lands at the back of your tongue and then continue sipping through.
In Kenya, there is a growing population of young people who consume wine.It is consumed mostly in urban areas due to the rising number of bars, restaurants, and hotels that have been established. Other products that were showcased included chocolate and cheese from different countries. There were also artists who were selling paintings and doing sketches for shoppers who wanted to take their sketches home.
