Irresistable Kenyan Local dishes

Without food we cannot survive, have energy or even a good mood. We work hard everyday so that we can fill our bellies with food.It also gives us so much pleasure because it is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and has a beautiful aroma that our taste buds cannot resist.
Each culture has their own special delicacies and different ways of preparing their meals. This is what makes human beings so interesting. It is very interesting the way we combine different flavors to create a distinct taste.
Cooking is all about people.Food is maybe  the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world , people get together to eat. SEDA / Guy Fieri
I have assembled a few dishes that I  have come across in Kenya.

You cant help but salivate when you see golden brown chicken grilled. It does not usually have a lot of spices, this leaves the taste natural and juicy. The almost natural flavor keeps you going back for more.Kenyans love chicken and when you go for family functions, pubs or restaurants, there's usually some kuku choma.

Ugali which is made from crushed maize is white in color and is Kenya's most common meal. Not only is it affordable but it gives you a lot of energy. It is natural and easy to make. All you need is a wooden spoon ,maize flour and water. It is usually accompanied with sukuma wiki which means to push the week. Sukuma wiki is known as kale, a very healthy vegetable which has plenty of nutrients. You can also serve it with beef on the side.

Mandazi is one of the most popular snacks in Kenya. It is made from dough which is,rolled, cut into small shapes and then it is fried until golden brown. You can have it for breakfast with a cup of tea,or in the afternoon with any beverage of your choice. It has a unique and addictive taste.

Githeri has an interesting taste it is made from beans and maize. It is also very simple to prepare. The maize and beans are usually boiled and then mixed together with some onions, water and sometimes tomatoes is added. There are no spices in the meal.Salt is usually added for taste. Another name for Githeri is muthere or mutheri. It has a lot of health benefits because of it is natural.

If you are a fish lover you will definitely enjoy fresh fried tilapia. The fish is fried in boiling oil until it is brown and crunchy. You can also taste the richness of the fish after it is fried. It is usually accompanied with ugali and Sukuma Wiki.

Mutura is a common roasted meat that has health benefits such as a better digestion according to venasnews. It is made of blood and a mix of chillies, garlic, ginger, salt, corriander and other spices as well.It is basically a Kenyan sausage.

The first time I tried Mukimo was at my friends house,I was about 10 years old. But I can still remember how much I enjoyed it because it was a different taste, I had never had anything that tasted like it before. Mukimo is a mixture of green maize, potatoes, green peas and pumpkin leaves.

Do you enjoy ribs that is roasted and marinated with a rich mixture of flavors, then you will love nyama choma which is one of  Kenya's  favorite meals especially during a celebration.Meat is very important to Kenyans and they will make sure that during a celebration, it is in plenty.

Chapatis are one of my favorites, Its origin comes from India, however it has become so popular in Kenya. It is a meal that is shared during celebrations and occasionally eaten in Kenyan households. You can also find them at local vendors.

She had a lot of positive energy as she spoke about her passion for writing for women. She said , "I like to call myself a writer. I write articles and books for women.
